Instructions for Show and Tell and Reading

Dear parents,

There will be a Show and Tell and testing of Reading skills in Week 7 onwards for the AMODES.

For Show and Tell:
I've given guidelines and rubrics to let you have an idea of what it is like. This is to prepare your child and to allow him to build his confidence up for the presentation with enough practice.

For Reading:
I've given your child the actual poem with rubrics to practise at home.

Please acknowledge the letter that I gave with your signature and remind your child to bring it tomorrow for my verification.

Meanwhile, I will practise with them in class prior to the tests. Most importantly, I need your help to practise with them at home. Thanks!

Class hamper for the Aged

To develop our boys' gentlemanly character according to our school vision and values, we want them to participate actively in community service. Therefore, the school has developed the Community Involvement Programme. This is a termly affair for the school to actively contribute to our community via different charitable organisation. This also raises the boys' awareness to the needs of the community.

For this term, we want to remember the elderly in our community. We will donate food items to the elderly in our neighbourhood. Our class will collect all the items as stated in the letter dated 5 January 2009 and wrap them into a hamper. These hampers from the various classes will be presented to the old folks during our Chinese New Year celebrations in school.

Please refer to the letter for more details and please encourage our boys to have a sense of joy in giving.

Thanks on the behalf of our school, Viriya Community Services and Xin Yuan Community Care!

p.s.: The last day is 16 January 2009 :)

SMART card/EZ-Link photo-taking session

There will be a photo-taking session for our boys next Monday. Therefore, they will need to wear formal school attire which will include the wearing of the school tie. Also, I have told the boys to write it in their homework book.

Our schedule follows:

Date: 12 January 2009
Venue: School Library
Time: 8.30 - 9.00 am

Note: I understand that our PE lesson falls on the same day so the boys will need to bring along their PE attire to change after they are done. However, I will confirm with Mrs. Lee regarding this matter.

Lastly, I would like to confirm with you that our boys only need to wear PE attire on Mondays even though they had to wear a formal school attire with tie. It makes sense with that arrangement so rest assured. (:

School-based Health Screening

Dear parents,

Our boys are scheduled to have their health screening tomorrow, 9 January. They will need to meet the nurses at 10.40 am, school library. The nurses will conduct an audiometry check. So they only need to wear their school attire.

15 January (Thursday)
They will have the height & weight taken, vision medical examination by a doctor and they will take immunisation jabs. They will need to wear their PE attire. Please help me to prepare them mentally for the last procedure. Thanks loads!!

While they are waiting for their turn, I would like the boys to read. So please prepare a storybook to keep them occupied for at least an hour or so for the 2 days.

fyi, there will be a follow-up for absentees daily.

Welcome to our lovely sanctuary..

Hi parents,

I have created this blog for you to be updated about your child's participation in the events that are happening in school. At times, I will post information such as important dates for you to take note of and the tasks that your child will need to complete. Hopefully it will be a useful tool of communication between us. Please be patient with me in setting up the blog as it looks simple now. Nevertheless, I will do my best to keep you well-informed.
