Let's re-visit the tips for Oral Examination!

There are 2 components. They are Reading and Picture Discussion. Please remind your child that they have to use present and present continuous tense for Picture Discussion. Also, it is good practice to wait for the examiner to be ready, greet the examiner and introduce himself (name and register number) before starting.

We have been practising the procedure for Oral. We have been reading some sample passages and discussing a sample picture.

The following phrases are the sentence stems for them to start their picture discussion. They must have a clear sequence in describing the picture. They must start with the focal point which is the problem area, followed by the event that contributed to the problem area (usually start from left to right after the focal point is mentioned).

1) This picture shows a scene of a ... (general statement)
2) I can see ...
3) I think / I feel that ...
4) I like / do not like ... because ... (To give their opinions about the segments of the picture)
5) In conclusion ... (This is used to end the picture discussion. It has to be a general statement to wrap up the picture discussion component.)

At the end of the picture discussion, encourage them to share their opinions about the picture using the sentence stem (5).

Earth Day celebration

In view of the above-mentioned event, please try to remind the boys to save energy at home by switching off the television or fan when not in use or even sacrificing the time for saving of energy.

We are going to switch off all fans from 7.35 - 8.35am to commemorate the event followed an hour recess and an hour special assembly. Do get your child to explain to you what they have learnt about Earth Day and what they will do to protect our Earth.

Thanks!
1) Please complete Learning Sheet 7.12 - 7.17.

2) Please remember to bring your costumes to school.

3) Please hand in your reply slip for Invitation to P2 Speech and Drama night.
